Creativity Takes Courage
One of the greatest gifts we have as human beings is our capacity for creative expression. Whether it's through writing or art or coaching or cooking, we find extraordinary ways of bringing together elements and ideas to create something new, larger, useful, and sometimes, thought-provoking and healing — not only for ourselves, but for others, too.
I applaud artists who step outside of what's considered "safe" and "comfortable" in our world to allow their creative expression to mirror the concerns of the heart, finding ways to bridge beauty and tragedy, communicating on a level where the deeper, more serious issues of life are brought into the light instead of kept hidden in the dark. Today I applaud artist Brenda Johima and her courageous artistic expression she's called "BoobArt for Breast Cancer", as I share this tidbit of quoteworthiness from her blog post:
"Breast Cancer is a serious issue, and requires expert, serious medical care, AND, we know, that the power of the mind, and the power of humor and laughter are tremendous in their healing power. Humor and laughter simply, heals."
