My finished "abandoned" piece of art

Inspire Me Thursday (and today, too!) Posted Feb-20-2007
Weekly Creative Art Challenge: Finishing "Angoraphobia"
Oh, oh! Here's another place all you artistic creatives are going to LOVE as soon as you see it. Called "Inspire Me Thursday", it's Melanie Komisarski's "weekly invitation to nurture your inner muse and make art a top priority" AND it has a weekly art challenge!

This week's featured art challenge is about revisiting a piece of abandoned art (and finishing it) OR interpreting the word "abandoned" as you wish. Then you get to post a link to your Web site to showcase your work to share with the community. Cool!

::: looks around cluttered, messy desk at all the possible works in progress for this challenge :::

As inspired as I am because of this site, I've decided to complete a Nit Wits comic that has been collecting pixel dust since Fall 2006. I started it around September, but for some reason I put it aside after wondering what color I should make the aluminum siding on the house owned by a violet and white angora sweater who is suffering from agoraphobia. (Agoraphobia is an abnormal fear of being in crowds, public places, or open areas, sometimes accompanied by anxiety attacks. Many people [or items of clothing] with this fear don't leave home. Follow me here, and remember, it's Nit Wits logic!)

So today I decided on the process color C59, M98, Y0, K13, or as non-designer's might call it a "deeper shade of violet." Imagine that, putting a piece of art on hold because of a color snag! Hey, don't look at me that way... plenty of other artists have put their projects on hold for similar reasons! And the color I had on there originally made me go "Yuck!"

Okay, now that I'm done with that Nit Wits comic (thank you, Inspire Me Thursday), I can check it off the list and move on. Wow, that feels good. Freeing. Mark today on your calendars because I've FINALLY given birth to the darn phobic comic sweater who refuses to leave her house! Woohoo!

Back to Inspire Me Thursday (even though it's really Tuesday). Curious about past weekly art challenges from the site? Check out the Inspire Me Thursday Archives back to November 2006 to find out what people have been up to. After a quick browse I must say that inspiration oozes from these pages and it's definitely worth checking out. Hey, it got me moving so I say it's cool.

Not coincidently, Inspire Me Thursday is currently featuring Creativity Portal's Imagination Prompt Generator on the home page as a "be inspired to look" place, so you just know they have it together. Reciprocatus gratis has never been so satisfying. <smile>.

Now tell me, what's the best therapy for my fearful sweater?
