Army Men 2 Movie Concept Poster / CD Soundtrack (2002)
Posted Jul-31-2005
The first "movie" poster I designed was for my portfolio when I was finishing up my graphic design degree. I wanted to show a variety of print pieces, and since I didn' t have a 'class project' movie poster, I decided to design one independently.

An adventurous part of this project was buying a small bag of little green army men and scanning them into digital images. From there, I had to work each man through Photoshop to crop/path him with a background knockout so I could place him over the rocky dirty background and type you see in the poster.

Because the poster design turned out well, I decided to merchandise it into a CD soundtrack. Next will be little Burger King toy tie-ins and Playstation games. Why Army Men 2 you ask? Because it convinces you of the original movie's success (and the "2" was a compelling design element). Who would star in this imagination-based movie? Will Smith, of course.

Creative Slush Concept Poster (2005) Posted Jun-24-2005
The first piece of conceptual art I designed for Creative Slush was this poster. After launching the site in January, I decided that I wanted the "slush" to be a positive thing — like those flavored slushy drinks you find at convenience stores and department store snack bars.

So I went onto illustrate my "fast food" cup concept and spent several hours mixing it up with type and other design elements. When the above revealed itself, I knew it was finished.
