Embracing the Variety and Contrast in the World
Create! Posted Apr-20-2007
Abundant Inspiration and Resources
In recent weeks I have been awakened more to the extraordinary value of the contrast and variety we experience in our lives. And not coincidently, I've also been more conscious of my inner resistance to people and events drawn into my experience. In my reality, these are not separate things, just polarized ends of the same spectrum in which I am currently finding balance.

I was reminded of the above after reading this really wonderful article, Living with Creative Intention by Lise Richards. It was such a resonating, satisfying piece about the characteristics she's noted in people who live with creative intention. In one paragraph Lise wrote:

We are introspective. We find inspiration from details others may overlook. We play with materials, words, and ideas; we push the envelope. We find joy in creating the simple and the complex. We like to try our hand at multiple things, often with the skill and insight to combine two or three seemingly disconnected things into one cohesive design. We appreciate the imagination and the inventiveness of others. We marvel at our own vision. We are insightful. We are out-of-the-box thinkers and are often called visionaries.

I am so in agreement with this, and it is related to my thoughts on the value of embracing the variety and contrast in this world and using it to our creative advantage. The people, cultures, food, music, art, the differences, the sharing we all can gift one another with to add to one another's life and worldview.

We need not live in fear and competitiveness with our knowledge and resources. Creativity expands more and more with every manifested idea. There is more than enough inspiration to go around, an abundance of resources for all to tap into, endless ideas to explore, and new and useful knowledge share. And it is such a beautiful gift to be alive and part of it all.
