Kindness: Pass it On!

How would you feel if you were in your favorite coffee shop this weekend, perhaps one situated in a bookstore where you are cozily reading the latest book from an author you love. Suddenly, you get a taste for a delicious Gingerbread Latte or a Peppermint Mocha and saunter up to the counter to order one. After a few minutes, the barista presents a picture-perfect whipped cream topped coffee to you and as you extend out your $3.95 to pay, she hands you a card and says, "It's already been paid for by the person before you. Enjoy!"

Shocked but pleased, you look at the card to read:

Merry Christmas!
You've just been
gifted with a random
act of kindness.

It's amazing how much
a free beverage from
a stranger can bring
more joy into your
day, isn't it? Enjoy!

Kindness: Pass it On!

Would you then:

A) Give the card back to the barista with your money and say, "That totally made my day. Here, I'm paying forward for the next person." and then hurry back to your seat to see how surprised the next customer will be?

B) Take the coffee, smile at your fortune, throw away the card, and hope the same generous person also paid ahead for the good book you're about to purchase. After all, it's about time you get yours.

If you've chosen "A", then you probably understand the immense value of a kind act given and received. It's a two-faceted transaction that expands the soul and opens up the heart while making us more aware of the undeniable law of cause-and-effect.

How would you like to be the initiator of a cycle of kind acts like this during this Christmas holiday season? If you're thrilled with the idea of 'paying it forward' for someone else and spreading more kind thoughts and actions into the world, please enjoy printing and using one or more of my sheets of "Kindness: Pass it On!" gift cards (the card story). My latest designs are just in time for this Christmas holiday season. Download the Kindness Christmas Gift Cards here »
