A kitty toes tail of epic proportions!
By Chris Dunmire
Back in June while I was writing my "26 Ways" Zen garden article and desktop Zen garden project, I spent several occasions "raking" my mini Zen garden until it was just right before snapping photos to use in my pieces. Sometimes I raked the night before in anticipation for better picture-taking light the next day when the sun would shine through the windows.
One evening I finished raking and retired for the evening, leaving my Zen garden both uncovered and unattended. The next morning I returned to my beautifully-raked Zen garden to find one kitty footprint interrupting the clean, smooth lines of raked sand. Yes, only one, stamped in the white sand taunting me as punishment for not covering it. I held my breath hoping that was the extent of the damage and sighed with relief knowing kitty didn't decide she had a new desktop litter box.
After my great relief, I laughed at the novelty of this gift and amused myself with thoughts of what she looked like investigating this odd sandbox late in the night when nobody was around. She hopped up on the chair, and then the table, and poked one paw perfectly into the sand before deciding not to hop into the entire pan. Good kitty!

Here's the evidence close-up. It reminds me of Big Foot hoaxers stamping fake footprints into the mud. Can you imagine a kitty stamping fake feline feet? Cute! So after capturing this little gem on my "moment capturer", I raked the kitty print out of the sand and promptly found a cover for my Zen garden. •
