(Betcha you'd mix 'em up too!) Humor The Tom Evans / Bob Evans Sausage LinkAssuaging the ‘Sausage King’ Rumor By Chris Dunmire I had a dream last night that I was interviewed by Piers Morgan on the tele about my ‘wildly exciting’ creative life. (Ah, the British accent... it just sways me with classiness no matter who it's coming from — the Queen, James Bond, Peppa Pig...) In the interview, Piers asked me about my work as founder of Creativity Portal®, my experiences as a Kaizen-Muse Creativity Coach™, and the secret keyboard combinations to making the ™ and ® symbols appear after trademarked names. As I zizzied on in the interview about how social networking has changed the Facebook of the Internet, and how fun it is to orpho imaginary words into my blog entries, he asked me one final question that piersed right to my heart: “Chris, is Tom Evans really the Sausage King in America?” “Yes. Yes, he is.” I confirmed without blinking. “There's even a restaurant named after him.” At that, my dream abruptly ended with the sound of my cell phone ringing (Verizon default Ringtone1) and I stumbled out of bed. “Hello, Chris. This is Tom Evans from across the pond. Are we still on for our phone interview today?” Half-dazed, I looked at my calendar. Sure enough, Tom the Bookwright was penciled in for 12 noon. The time difference threw me even after consulting the online World Clock. When it's 6p in London, it's 12p in Chicago... Suddenly I had the urge to google “evans sausage down on the farm” and was horrified by what came up. Bob Evans was the proud Sausage King — not Tom. “Tom, before we get started, there's something I have to tell you before Piers Morgan gets to you. In the US, the names Tom and Bob are interchangeable.” At least I think that's how it all happened. I don't know, sleepyheadedness has a way of warping reality. You can listen to our very casual conversation below and decide for yourself. Listen to the Podcast Conversation Chris Dunmire on Creativity by thebookwright Post-Interview Reflections Yay! Now that I've made a my first highly-seasoned gaffe on a public podcast (forever played in the ethersphere for all to hear) I get to relax about not being perfect. More blunders are sure to follow, so stay tuned!* My gracious thanks to Tom Evans for being such a great sport about all this and for the opportunity to chat about creativity and Creativity Portal in such an ice-of-the-tipburg way. In fact, Tom's just launched a new mini-series on the site based on his book Flavours of Thought: Recipes for Fresh Thinking. Mmmm, I smell more food pun-portunities coming. • * Brought to you by Kaizen-Muse Creativity Coaching™, where being kind and forgiving to yourself for such inevitable human happenings is the natural and healthy order of the day. © 2011 Chris Dunmire.
