How to Draw a Cartoony Nightstand

Nit Wits #20: One Night Stand

Nit Wits #20 ("One Night Stand") is a classic example of combining simple shapes into bigger, more complex items. You can see how I tried my hand at cartoony carpentry and accomplished this basic wooden nightstand with seven rectangles and one circle.

Try making your own nightstand by following my step-by-step drawing lesson below. If you want a bigger challenge, try adding more dimension and making your nightstand 3D or adding woodgrain (oak, maple, redwood) or a modern modular color, material, or design.
