FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:Print a Free Map, Take a Virtual Tour of 31 Tree Sculptures in Amboy City Park BELVIDERE, ILLINOIS — JUNE 20, 2011 — Amboy, Illinois’ acclaimed City Park tree carvings have become such a tourist attraction that one long-time visitor and artist has created an online photo exhibit titled “31 Sculptures: Amboy City Park” to help preserve the town’s history and share the inspiring story with the world. The photo exhibit showcases 31 tree carvings as they stood in May 2011 and offers a free printable guide map to visitors for walking and driving tours. “‘31 Sculptures’ demonstrates how one small Midwest town used their creativity and ingenuity in the face of disaster.” says Chris Dunmire, creator of the exhibit. “Transforming damaged trees into memorials and beautiful works of art reflecting the town’s rich history is both a statement and metaphor that can inspire so many others.” Dunmire, a frequent visitor to Amboy since 1975, is the founder of Creativity-Portal.com, a Writer’s Digest Best Web site encouraging the exploration and expression of creativity. The “31 Sculptures” exhibit is featured on its home page through August. The online exhibit and virtual tour can be viewed on Dunmire’s Web site at www.chrisdunmire.com/illinois/amboy. The free tour map highlights 31 carvings and their locations including: The Amboy Arch, President Barack Obama, Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses S. Grant, Ronald Reagan, other people, animals, and sports figures. Contact: ### © 2011 Chris Dunmire. All rights reserved. |
