Persist by Peter Clothier

Read an excerpt from Persist
on Creativity Portal: The Big Lie

Author Peter Clothier Interviews Chris Dunmire About Creativity Coaching June-22-2010
Frequently Asked Questions About Coaching
Yes! The same author of "Persist: In Praise of the Creative Spirit in a World Gone Mad with Commerce" Peter Clothier (and frequent contributor to the Huffington Post) asked me a few questions about creativity coaching to publish on his blog this week. It was such a good exercise in FAQ'ing for me, that I asked if he wouldn't mind me posting it on CoachingYourCreativity.com for some good historical background information for potential clients.

If Clothier's name sounds familiar, it might be because of the excerpt from his Persist book published last month on C-P: The Big Lie. Explore more about Clothier at PeterClothier.com. •

Doodling: Attention Deficit Disorder or Surplus Reorder? June-11-2010
Artsbowl Guest Blog, Part 2
In part 1, I left you with the question: Even if doodling is an unconscious space-filler which allows minds to wander through inked lines and shapes during passive moments of learning and lulls in conversation, does it have any considerable merit as an art form or as a tool capable of assisting with the learning process? ...

The Story Behind Jaye van Dussen's Good Karma Cards June-8-2010
"psst...pass it on"
As both a creativity coach and printable playbook author, I enjoy reading stories about other artists who find ways to turn their creative ideas and passions into viable marketplace products. That's why I've been collecting such stories for years in a special section on Creativity Portal called, well... Inspiring Creativity Success Stories!

If you've ever wondered about the process some people go through to take their creative ideas from conception to implementation, especially with the support and guidance of a coach, then you'll enjoy this inspiring story behind Jaye van Dussen's Good Karma Cards (goodkarmacards.net), co-written by Jaye and her career coach Stephanie Legatos.

Jaye was kind to allow me to use the image above of one of her Good Karma Cards to illustrate her story (and this blog), and, as I type I'm looking through the two 10-card packs I received from Jaye via snail-mail, plotting my plan for dispensing them all to good-deeders within the next two weeks.

See, if you're familiar with my printable Kindness Pass-Along Cards and know about my passion for doing and rewarding kind acts, then you'll know why Jaye's cards are such a hit with me. And, that each card features her unique artwork along with a positive expression of gratitude just makes them better. Good job, Jaye, and congratulations! •

On Julia Cameron's Morning Pages and Other Creativity Tools, Coaching Philosophies June-5-2010
The Artist's Sway
If you've read Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way, then you know all about writing morning pages. In short, this early a.m. writer's exercise works well for some people as a daily structure and tool for processing/getting through/moving past whatever is occupying the mind to free it for the day's creative work. Get out the glurge; clear the mind; leave all the clutter way behind. ...
