Heather
Blakey Made Me Famous Posted
Jan-29-2005
Okay, she didn't exactly make me famous,
but she sure makes me feel like a star.
Heather Blakey is the mastermind behind the Soul
Food Cafe (www.dailywriting.net), a Web site devoted
to creativity, self-exploration, and writing for well being. "Make
writing a daily practice" is Soul Food's motto, the
name which incidentally came right out of the Blues Brothers movie.
I met Heather over a year and a half ago, when she contacted
me to congratulate me on the installment of the Imagination
Prompt Generator and a few other features on the Creativity
Portal. We exchanged e-mails, and soon it became apparent
that we were on the same wavelength with our Web-based projects
and desire to collaborate.
Not long after, Heather invited me to submit some background
information about the Creativity Portal, and then set up a patrons page
for me on the Soul Food Cafe. And recently, she interviewed me
for Soul Food Cafe and has visitors from all over the world
reading about "Chris Dunmire from the Creativity Portal."
Let me say right here that Heather Blakey enchants everyone
she comes in contact with. Though based in Australia, her creative
Web weaving and sweet sticky words of praise entice and entrap
all sorts of unsuspecting victims into her lair. Once Heather
has her sights set on your creative and artistic talents, you
invariably will do her bidding. Don't believe me? Just ask
the host of patrons found
on her site, from the notable rug hooking artist Deanne
Fitzpatrick to the best-selling author SARK.
And then there's Chris Dunmire, creativity enthusiast
extraordinaire. Between you and me, I often question
whether I deserve a seat at the rich, soul-full banquet table
Heather prepares for her visitors. At the same time, I'm
extremely honored and grateful to have her as a virtual mentor
and online friend. •
